on vulnerability and being a woman

I was thinking of a dear friend of mine who is well known for carrying around a bag of change and giving it to the homeless. He even opens his home to a street person who has become a part of his extended family. I admire him for this, among other reasons, because he can be openly vulnerable in a way that I can't. He is a gentle soul, we are kindred spirits, but there is no way I could do what he does. It would be careless for me to take such a risk.

Why? I feel that we still live in a time where vulnerability is too often misunderstood. It becomes a power exchange where vulnerability is taken as a sign of weakness to be preyed upon. A friendly smile is taken as a sexual invitation.

Of course, I know I can't control how other people see me. What does bother me is that I feel I must hold myself back from being fully vulnerable -- being fully me. I am sharp and cautious. I choose my actions by watching and listening to how others perceive me. But, I would like to move beyond my past experiences. I just don't know how to do it. Yet.

Creative Power

Hey, Jen, thanks for the invite to participate in this creative gathering of goddesses! I don't have a website yet, but I am currently pursing a passion for some different forms of artistic expression: Altered Books, Art Journals, ATCs, collage on canvas with mixed media, etc. I have joined and have posted some scans of some recent art explorations. (My name in picturetrail is "LTrippy")

first impressions.

Thank you to Creatrix (aka Jennifer) for inviting me here. I'm honored and love new adventures. :) Thank you, thank you.

My introduction ::: I'm currently pushing along my fledgling jewelry business w/ the aide of, a couple local retail outlets and orders by word of mouth. On my site, I also keep a style & jewelry blog. You might find more than just style & jewelry, however, as I'm a complete chatterbox.

I love this vision I have of women coming together in total & utter support. Since my business has entered the online world, I am meeting and learning about tons of women in business ... all independent and creative. They have my adoration ... thank you.

Beyond business, we gals need other gals ... you know, to talk about shoes, socks & all things girly (or not so girly) and in every sense *goddess*.

looking for women...

...yes, I am and I'm not afraid to scream it from the mountain tops!

Come help me create a blog community. Here. A place where we can share dreams and encourage each other to create new dreams. A place where inspiration is only a goddess away and she's likely to be posting any minute. A place where women feel the acceptance of a sister and the joy of knowing her talents are appreciated and needed.

Simply put, I need you...yes the beautiful goddess that resides within come and play. Say it loud and proud. I Am Goddess!

Come on know you want to. Take a seat on that lush satin pillow while I compliment your amazing and lush beauty. Get to know us and share a little of yourself.

Ah...yes, that's what it's like to be in a community of Goddesses. Plenty of spirit and love to go around.
